How much does the program cost?
$1,585 for 3 weeks of room, board, instruction, and field trips.
Will there be scholarships available?
If I am accepted to the Summer Bridge Program, where will I stay during the program?
Students chosen for the program will stay in Humphreys residence hall at the University of the South. Five staffers will also live in the dorms to provide supervision and guidance.
Do I need to have a car with me during the program?
No, we will take care of your transportation on and off campus for the duration of the program. However you are responsible for your travel to and from Sewanee before and after the program, therefore if you are driving yourself to the program, you will need to turn your keys into the Bridge Program director for the duration until departure.
How far is Sewanee from the Chattanooga or Nashville airports?
The Chattanooga Airport is approximately 60 miles from Sewanee. The Nashville Airport is approximately 90 miles from Sewanee. If you are flying into either the Chattanooga or Nashville airports and aren't planning on renting a car, you will want to book a shuttle with Groome Transportation. Groome Website Information
If I am driving to Sewanee, what is the best route to take?
Sewanee is conveniently located just off of Interstate 24 (I-24). Take exit 134 to US-41A N/W Main St. in Monteagle. Continue on US-41A N for 5.3 miles. Turn right onto University Avenue. You will pass the University stone gates just prior to the turn.
Once you're on campus, you will stay on University Avenue until South Carolina Avenue, which will be the 3rd turn on your right. Turn right onto South Carolina Avenue. Stay on South Carolina until the 2nd turn on your right. Turn right until the 2nd turn and from there you will see signs for the Bridge Program. You've arrived!
What type of weather should I expect?
Sewanee has a milder summer than most southern areas. We are perched on top of the Cumberland Plateau so it is typically cooler on the mountain.
Where will meals be held?
Meals will be taken in McClurg Dining Hall, which offers several choices for each meal. There will be a few other locations throughout the program for food, but most of the meals will be in McClurg.
The University has a sport and fitness center, movie theatre, and more than 40 miles of hiking and biking trails to keep you busy during your off hours. A number of outdoor experiences are planned for the entire group.
